For anyone who has ever been in a hospital, you would know that it is nothing like this. This hospital is like Pacific Coast Academy for anyone that watched Zoey of hospitals.
The kids all had free reign and were able to just come and go as they please. Also why were they just allowed to hang out in each others rooms like that?
Why was the surgeon treating the cancer kids also the doctor of the other kids? Don't even get me started on the Eating Disorder plot.
If you have never been hospitalized for an eating disorder, this show is a garbage depiction. ED patients usually have to be on some form of bed rest and under constant supervision not roaming the streets of LA getting Hot Dogs.
Everything you eat is monitored and if you don't finish you are made to drink a nutrition supplement or else they will give you a feeding tube. What was with that scene in the first episode where Kara goes in Emma's room as the nurse brings in the tray, leaves, and then comes back 2 mins later and takes the uneaten tray and says something like "great job Emma"???
They would also never weigh someone in the middle of the day with there clothes on. The overall portrayal of Eating Disorders in the media is crap so I guess I give the show props for trying, but like pretty much every other portrayal it is filled with inaccurate stereotypes and misconceptions.
I do appreciate though that they touched on the genetic component even though it was only slightly. When are people going to get with the science and learn that eating disorders aren't some weight loss tactic or whatever garbage the media leads people to believe.
They are genetically based illnesses just like cancer or diabetes or whatever other illness that is triggered by a state of energy deficit consuming few calories than one burns.
This state of imbalance in the brain causes the Anorexia which can only be fixed with nutritional rehabilitation and neural rewiring basically training your brain to use healthy behaviors.
Someone with an eating disorder can choose to be sick no more than someone with any other illness.
It's not a choice or a character flaw as they have Emma's mother pretty much imply in one of the last episodes. Anyway overall it was an okay show plot wise but totally ridiculous execution.
They should have just put the kids in a high school or something because having a show based in a hospital is setting the show up to fail.

We were older but when your in situation like that you push the envelope just to see how far we could bend the rules without completely breaking them and still feel normal.
I have not had the luck of finding a new show with such depth and emotion in a LONG time. This show is it.
These kid's are such good actors and represent their characters so well. I fear that this show will drop off the radar without advertisement and such, but give it a chance.
The very first episode hooked me This is a really good show it embraces kids fighting illness and objections and dealing with these major catastrophes in their lives as well with the drama of being a teen.
I love the interaction with their families and doctors and nurses loving and caring for these children.
Great show heartwarming and scary. I love the dynamic warm hearted care each in the RBS had for each other. Maybe this is a far distance from the reality of being in the hospital I love how it also gives me a glimpse into what teens today are into Watch it if you like getting attached to characters for their quirky uniqueness Time well spent viewing this series one.
Love the show, sad to see it got canceled. Attractive cast though! Why doctors always have to be good looking? Hope other networks pick up this show.
