Sara Stewart. The lovely performances, especially by Gadon and Powley, make the film a passably pleasing tale of teens gone slightly wild, with a royal twist.

Bruce DeMara. From Laurence Dorman's production design to Claire Anderson's period perfect costuming to Christophe Beaucarne's lensing to Debbie Lynn Elias.

It is clear that Jarrold does not claim that his film be marked in history because of its cinematic complexity, but he simply wants to offer an hour and a half of affordable distraction.

An imaginative fish out of water in a unique time in our history, fully realised through first-class design and plummy acting; happy and glorious indeed.
