Ganta and his new friend Shiro must compete in a deadly prison contest to win an antidote to a poison that could kill them. After Yo gives Ganta a piece of candy so he can stay alive, Ganta gets his chance to attack the Red Man, now known as the Wretched Egg.
When Ganta attacks an inmate he wrongly believes to be the Wretched Egg, he loses the fight but discovers his Branch of Sin powers. Ganta is forced into his carnival corpse match with Senji, but finds himself at a huge disadvantage when his projectiles send him into anemia.
Ganta offers to help a girl escape from prison only to find that she is his next carnival corpse match, and has weakened him with their encounter.
After a strange quake hits, Ganta begins to recall his childhood with Shiro, who is revealed to be the Wretched Egg.
After Shiro saves him from Genkaku, Ganta meets the other members of Scar Chain, who are planning to expose Deadman Wonderland's secrets.
Ganta and a few others fight to save the chip containing the information that the Scar Chain hopes to leak to the outside world.
Ganta gets mad at Shiro for throwing away the data chip, but soon learns that things aren't always what they seem. Ganta asks Senji for lessons on how to fight using his Branch of Sin, but his progress is interrupted by Genkaku.

Watch all you want. It starts off with a bang so I was interested in it from the get-go. We don't get any explanation about the world, the setting, the event etc in the start.
Instead, we get bits here and there in almost each episodes, this increases your interest about finding out everything.
I thought he would be yet another wimpy annoying brat, but thankfully he didn't go in that department far enough and he grew on me. There is a lot of good action, cool looking powers and techniques and LOTS of gore.
Plus, the anime thrives at displaying it in a brutal manner. The soundtrack was decent too, which helped elevate some key moments. It's a crime that this anime was only 12 episodes long.
They could have made it 24 episodes long and fleshed out the large character cast a lot because it just felt rushed in the later episodes. Also, it is sad to see there is no sequel for it since we don't really get to see a proper end of the story, many of the stuff is just laying around, begging for a sequel.
I hate it when this happens. Even though it doesn't end the story, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for some gory action and interesting setting.

Despite its identity as a prison and theme park, Deadman Wonderland houses a much darker secret. Hidden away from the eyes of tourists and the general prison population is a massive underground facility known as "G Block".
This is where the prison keeps their Deadmen secluded and where the Carnival Corpse arena is located.
G Block also houses numerous laboratories and rooms where experiments on humans are performed and where scientists are attempting to harness the powers of the Deadmen for monetary and political gain.
Eventually, Ganta and his Deadman allies received the assistance of Makina, the chief of the prison guards, to defeat Tsunenaga Tamaki.
After Deadman Wonderland was closed, the necklaces were removed from the inmates. Most of the remaining inmates were transferred to different prisons where some of them were allowed a retrial.
Makina later rallies the Deadmen on a mission to infiltrate Deadman Wonderland and activate the Mother Goose Program to completely seal the Wretched Egg another name for the Red Man , with the resulting battle destroying most of Deadman Wonderland.
Deadman Wonderland runs a secret gladiator -like game called the Carnival Corpse also referred to as the Carnival of Corpses , where wealthy anonymous donors pay to watch death-matches between the prison's Deadmen.
The viewers of the Carnival Corpse also place their bets on who would win. The winner is awarded a large number of Cast Points, life-saving candies, and other prizes.
Deadmen who are defeated yet survive the game have a part of their anatomy surgically removed for scientific research which is broadcast as part of the Corpse Carnival Post-Game Show.
In a cruel twist, the doctor spins a bird -shaped macabre slot machine to determine which part of the loser's body will be removed with the show being broadcast live to the other prisoners by the doctor with the parts ranging from the eye the right one was removed from Senji , vocal cords which were removed from Nagi , and the kidney , part of the stomach , and hair which were removed from Minatsuki.
Other parts listed on the slot machine are hand , tongue , lip , nose , leg , tooth , nail , heart , lungs , and brain. When Tamaki unveiled the Forgeries in the Carnival Corpse, the arena was wrecked by a powerful attack from Ganta during a match between the Deadmen and the Forgeries.
On July 30, , a retailers' solicitation sheet reported that an anime adaptation had been green-lit. An original video animation episode was released on October 8, , alongside the eleventh manga volume.
Fade and the ending theme is "Shiny Shiny" by Nirgilis. Two pieces of theme music are used for the episodes: one opening theme and one ending theme.
